A smaller group of members played for the Midsummer festivity organized by the American Scandinavian Association, Drott Lodge #168, Swedish Women's Educational Association, and Finlandia Foundation in Carderock Park, Maryland on June 22, 2025.

October 31, 2024. Some of our members gave a much appreciated Halloween show in Kensington.

June 4, 2023. Two members of  Washington's Spelmanslag, Kerstin Hendrickson and Sonia White,  play at the Swedish Embassy, celebrating Swedens national day.

May 13, 2023. Playing at the EU Open House at the Swedish Embassy. Thousands of visitors were greeted with Swedish folk music. The people waiting in line to get in were very happy to have some entertainment while they were waiting.






​October 29, 2022. Workshop with two eminent Swedish fiddlers, Lars Hökpers and Lars Moberg. So much fun to play ''allspel'' together and learn new tunes.

June 24, 2022. The gig schedule is picking up as all restrictions due to the pandemic has been lifted. Here Washington's Spelmanslag is playing for a midsummer  (midsommar) celebration at IKEA, College Park, MD.

​June 6, 2022. Playing at the Swedish Embassy - House of Sweden to celebrate the Swedish National Day.

On March 22, 2022, Washington's Spelmanslag recorded two tunes - Julottan and Hästskuttet - at Tonal Park, Takoma Park, MD, for an upcoming CD of Scandinavian Music.

Playing together live again for the first time in 15 months! On June 6, 2021, the Swedish National Holiday, Washington's Spelmanslag played at an outdoor service for the Swedish Church in Cardercock Park, MD.

Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic Washington's Spelmanslag cannot meet in person for rehearsals at this point. All gigs have also been canceled. So, what remains are Zoom rehearsals every other week. Of course, nothing can replace live music with your friends, but we have fun playing along as best we can with the person who leads the tune. Thanks to Catherine for organizing this!

Playing at the Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens on December 19, 2019, was such a lovely event. The Spelmanslag sounded and looked beautiful, and the dancers were just the perfect addition! We received heartfelt thanks and praise from the staff and visitors, and they are already asking us to return next year!
